Each piece of artwork is made from a book that was published in 1929; the year that began The Great Depression. Inside the book, I have woven hand-colorized photographs from that era. The idea is to remind us that we have been in scary times before. We, as a great nation and as a species have survived Pandemics and economic disasters. We have survived wars and times of great hardship, horrible grief. It comforts me to know that we have been here before and that we have survived.
The artwork is mounted on a transparent photographic reproduction of the names of some of the people who have died of Covid-19 in 2020, as printed by the NY times.
These pieces are framed behind glass and offered for half the price of my normal book carvings, essentially at cost at $125 including shipping anywhere in the US.
ALL PIECES ARE SOLD, PLEASE CONTACT ME AT [email protected] IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE ADDED TO THE WAITLIST FOR THE NEXT 6 PIECES.
